Topic 2: Sports and active life

The new religion of the elderly is healthy ageing (staying youthful forever!). There is growing recognition that exercise and sports lower stress, obesity, fall risk, cholesterol, and depression, while maintaining muscle mass and boosting the immune system. It should come as no surprise that this results in a better lifestyle and fewer health hazards.

Older people who actively participate in sports tend to:

  • consider themselves to be of all ages, to be living in the present, have friends of all ages, and are aware of current news and events.
  • lead an active lifestyle, whether its going out with friends, traveling, or taking part in sports and social activities.
  • are highly wealthy and have enough money to spend. Although they are not as computer literate as the younger generation, they are becoming more so.
  • have plenty of free time to spend on hobbies.
